GoPro has upgraded its stabilization technology with HyperSmooth Pro, incorporating ReelSteady’s advanced features into the GoPro Player. This transition signifies an evolution, offering enhanced video stabilization and quality. Existing ReelSteady users, who’ve previously purchased the feature, retain access within this new framework, ensuring a seamless transition to HyperSmooth Pro.

What Was ReelSteady?

ReelSteady, initially a standalone app favored by the FPV drone community for its ability to smooth out flight videos and add cinematic effects, has been fully integrated into the GoPro ecosystem with the GoPro Player + ReelSteady application. This integration came after GoPro acquired the company behind ReelSteady in March 2020, marking a significant step forward in enhancing the cinematic quality of content produced with GoPro cameras. Unlike traditional stabilization software that relies on scene analysis, ReelSteady utilizes the gyro data from GoPro cameras to stabilize footage, a feature that did not previously work with GoPro’s HyperSmooth footage but is now fully supported in the GoPro Player + ReelSteady app. This allows people to achieve even smoother stabilization by combining ReelSteady with HyperSmooth.

What Is HyperSmooth Pro?

HyperSmooth Pro is rebranded ReelSteady, the same product, that has now been included in the GoPro Premium + subscipription. This change signifies a shift from a standalone license model to an integrated feature within GoPro’s subscription offerings, further embedding the advanced stabilization technology into the GoPro user experience.
